As well as our touring theatre performances, Theatre People offer a range of services to clients across the North East of England. We strive to employ local talent whenever possible and one of our primary goals is to educate and enrich local communities. We have a lot to bring to the education sector in the region, and also offer personal tuition on an individual basis.

Touring theatre

Theatre People are primarily a professional touring theatre company, providing a wide range of theatrical services across the North of England. We hire local professionals and offer contracts in line with Equity rates.

We perform in local theatres such as The Royalty Theatre, Sunderland and The Customs House, South Shields. In time we intend to take our productions to larger theatres such as The Theatre Royal in Newcastle and The Empire Theatre in Sunderland.

That said, we don't exclusively perform in theatres. We also stage smaller scale productions in local community centres, church halls, schools, colleges and universities.

Curriculum based performances

Theatre People produce and perform plays based on the National Curriculum. This gives students the chance to experience the text they're studying in a live format, showing the transition from text to stage. The whole experience can be enhanced with workshops, training sessions and Q&As.

Home training and development

We offer home based learning, including:

• one on one acting classes;
• monologue development for auditions, and
• speech & drama classes

The above training sessions can be held either at our head office, or at the student's home. The sessions take place between Monday and Wednesday at the convenience of our customers.

Creative writing and sourcing local talent

Theatre People have an in-house writing department producing new and original work and also source local writing talent, giving the opportunity to have fresh work produced and performed by professional artists.
